God's Kingdom in Embo

To be part of God's Kingdom in Embo is not just to be a church member or a preacher. - God's Kingdom should influence the community in many ways, and be a call to those who are not yet chidren og God.

Therefore the kingdom includes everything you do as an expression of Christ's love for this community.

Make God's Kingdom visible in through Caring for orphans and suffering people
Power of God Community Church has over the last 10 years tried to influence the community through this type of work. Let us mention two examples of this.

Philakhale Childrens Home
This is an orphanage next to the church, offering a home-like environment for 24 orphans age 1-15.
until now it has been staffed with people who were willing to work for very little pay, as the funding is still on the church and some donors, as the government has no yet licenced the orphanage. - This is expected to happen late 2014.
Development through teaching & training
Pastor's Workshop happens currently every second Sunday of the month. This year it is general church leader training, as it would have been taught in a Bible College, but with local falvour.
Subject examples:
Leadership structures
Church values
Appointment of elders and ministers
Women in ministry
The Clinic
The church has for several years run a programme for sick and elderly people, headed up by a retired nurse.
Now outside funding has made it possible to build a nice new clinic right next to church and orpahnage.
This clinic will serve the population in general, with a special focus on people in need for TB and AIDS treatment.
Running cost will be covered in partnership with Departement of Health.

Discipling: This means to teach young people to follow the right way
A discipleship Kitchen has for the last 5 years been running at the home of a missionary in Embo.
The idea is to help expecially teenagers from unprivileged background to aquire skills, generate a small income, and at the same time teach them the principles of Christian living.
'Aunty Karen' receive the teens in her home, and let each of them bake a bucket full of muffins that they can go and sell. They keep the money minus a small contribution towards the ingredients, and are taught to manage their money: Give some of it to God, Use some to help your family pay for your food, schooling or clothing, - save some every time, so you can later buy items you need.
While the muffins are in the oven 'Aunty Karen' is reading small easy bible studies with the teens, and teach them how to apply the principles in their own life.
